Thursday
Thursday starts early, with meditation at 7:30 a.m. in the Oak Tree camp area .
Breakfast is at 8 A.M. with a delicious breakfast, usually pancakes, sausage, fresh fruit, cereal, yogurt, juice, fresh coffee, tea, hot chocolate. Let us know if you have any special dietary needs.
By 10 A.M. we have gathered at the picnic tables for the Rafting Orientation given by our Rafting Guide. We will be introduced to our guides, launch our boats from our campsite and begin rafting a fun and easy section of the river that has many Class I-II rapids, giving us time to warm up and practice our paddling before arriving at the lunch site.
About noon we stop for a hearty and nutritious picnic. Lunch includes a variety of deli meats, cheeses, breads, condiments, vegetables, fruit, chips, cookies, lemonade, ice tea, and water. They always have peanut butter and jelly too.
After lunch, we continue rafting into the Gorge, some class III rapids like Satan’s Cesspool, Hospital Bar and Recovery Room. After the last rapid we will grab a cold soda or water, and board the bus for the 30-minute drive back to camp.
Back at camp, you can take a shower, play volleyball, horseshoes, ping-pong, walk the Nature Trail, sit by the river, read, relax, socialize or shop in the camp store.
Hors d’oeuvres prepared by our guides are served about 5-5:30 P.M. The food is good, and for dinner we may have barbequed steak, chicken, and salmon, colorful salad with lots of veggies to add to it, baked potato, garlic bread, soda, water.
We’ll get together again Thursday evening for some socializing and fun!.
